The rafting trip was insane.. it was 4 hours south of Auckland. We all took these 3 dilapidated buses to get there and ended up in the middle of a turnip field, surrounded by cliffs and dangerous obstacles. Surrounding the cliffs is the river Fulijames which is a class 2 or 3 rapids.
After everyone got over the initial shock of turnips EVERYWHERE, throwing them around and making a general turnip ruckus, we unpacked all our gear and relaxed. I went kayaking twice and white water rafting once. The three things I learned were:
1. dont pick the longest kayak you can find
2. dont pick the shortest kayak you can find
3. don't go rafting with 11 other girls, because they will just scream at the waves and not paddle.
Regardless it was one of the most fun things i've done as of yet, and im definitely going again with the kayaking club.
The ride back was great too, we arrived monday at 3am, ready for class the next day.
I have a lot of pictures but here are 3. It might be hard to see in the picture but the cliff was enormous.
First is to the mountains, second is the campground, third is the cliff and the very end pool of the rapids.
Until next time!
